Tom Brittain is Head of RAS (Robotic Assisted Surgery) at Cambridge Design Partnership, leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, high-performance surgical technologies. With a strong focus on user-centered design and technical excellence, Tom works at the intersection of engineering, healthcare, and innovation strategy to help clients bring cutting-edge medical devices to market. Tom comes from an extremely diverse range of previous experience, with 14 years' working in or managing teams for the development of complex mechanical systems—from surgical robots, to interactive museum exhibits, to large-scale mechanical set pieces for the film industry. This broad foundation has shaped his creative problem-solving skills and ability to lead across sectors and disciplines. Since joining CDP, Tom has played a key role in delivering high-impact design and engineering projects, combining a deep understanding of user needs with robust technical leadership. His approach balances creativity with precision, ensuring solutions are both visionary and practical. Based in Cambridge, Tom continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in surgical innovation, drawing on his rich and varied background to lead the future of RAS development.
