Rui Jing Jiang
Rui Jing Jiang is Founder and CEO of Avisi Technologies, Inc., a company developing a portfolio of nanotechnology-enabled solutions for vision care. Avisi’s flagship product is an implant called VisiPlate®. VisiPlate is many times thinner than a single human hair and aims to treat patients with glaucoma. Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, affecting over 100 million people. There are over 4 million patients in the US today. VisiPlate aims to change the treatment paradigm for glaucoma, empowering patients to preserve their vision. VisiPlate is currently in clinical trial investigations. Rui Jing serves as a panel reviewer for the National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Rui Jing is also part of the Nano Entrepreneurship Network by the US National Nanotechnology Initiative and is a proud member of AdvaMed (Advanced Medical Technology Association). Rui Jing has been recognized as a Healthtech Leader by UCSF Rosenman Institute. She enjoys speaking about entrepreneurship – along with serving as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Wharton, she has given guest lectures for courses like Wharton’s Management of Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation, Wharton’s Venture Acceleration Lab, and Penn’s Management & Technology Summer Institute. Rui Jing holds a B.S. in Economics, Finance, and Strategic Management from Wharton. Avisi Technologies has been funded over $10M in capital by venture investors, the University of Pennsylvania, and the National Science Foundation. Avisi is a Johnson & Johnson JLABS company, a MedTech Innovator Accelerator alum, and a UCSF Rosenman Innovator. In 2018, Avisi was awarded the University of Pennsylvania President’s Innovation Prize. Since then, selected recognitions garnered by Avisi include winner of the Glaucoma Research Foundation H. Dunbar Hoskins International Innovations Award, a Watchlist venture in Wharton Magazine, and a finalist at the 2019 SXSW Innovation Awards for Health, Med, and Biotech.
